"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes" (1 Cor 11:23). This is the main reason we come together, just as the first Christians did, "Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread..." (Acts 20:7). It is a solemn time, as we remember our Lord and Savior, recalling those words "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:54).
